Pacemax provides pace guidance and running history on iPhone. This policy explains how Pacemax handles your information and the choices available to you. For privacy questions or requests, contact mukombambia@gmail.com.
Your account and setup
When you sign in with Apple or Google, Pacemax receives an account identifier and the name and email address that the provider shares. Google may also share your account photo; Apple does not provide a profile photo. You can use Apple's Hide My Email option. Pacemax does not receive your Apple or Google password.
Your setup answers, chosen pace, running preferences and optional referral text are stored on your iPhone and saved to your account to personalize and restore your setup. You can edit your display name and choose a profile photo in Profile. Pacemax keeps an on-device copy of the current profile photo for offline display. A Google account photo, when available, and any profile photo you choose are also copied to Pacemax's account storage when connected.
Run measurements and location
During an active run, Pacemax uses precise location and available motion and pressure readings to measure distance, pace, time, steps and elevation, and to deliver pace guidance. Background location allows recording to continue with your screen locked. Pause and Finish stop collection for that run.
Run measurements, location observations and recording diagnostics are saved on your iPhone. Completed run summaries, measurement history and any reflection you add are backed up to your account when you are signed in and connected. Backup waits while a run is active or paused.
Completed runs, their available route coordinates and selected run attachments are uploaded automatically to your account when you are signed in and connected, so they can be restored on another device. There is no in-app toggle to turn account backup on or off. Backup waits until any active or paused run ends and retries when Pacemax reconnects. Previously saved route-backup exclusions and queued coordinate removal remain respected. Local runs remain available on this iPhone. Turning off Post to feed controls community publication; it does not turn off account backup.
Previously imported Apple Health records
Pacemax no longer offers an Apple Health connection and does not currently read or write Apple Health data. Workouts imported through an earlier version may remain in your local history. Those imported workout dates, distances and durations stay on this iPhone and are excluded from Pacemax cloud backup. A pace previously selected using an import may remain in your saved account setup.
Health and fitness information is used to provide your running experience, not for advertising or marketing. Removing a previously imported record from Pacemax does not remove the original workout from Apple Health.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple processes App Store payments. Pacemax uses Superwall to present subscription offers, restore purchases and check access. Superwall receives your Pacemax account identifier and processes purchase, entitlement, paywall-interaction and app/device information needed for its service. Pacemax does not receive your full payment-card details.
Pacemax also receives subscription-event information, including product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, and cancellation or refund status. Operational subscription-event records are retained for 30 days after their latest received update, then scheduled for removal. Apple and Superwall maintain their own records under their privacy policies.
Community posts and run attachments
Photos and videos attached to a run are saved on your iPhone and backed up to your account after the run ends. Post to feed is on by default in each new run review. Turn it off before finishing to keep that run private. When on, your display name, profile photo, post title and description, run date, distance, time, average pace and attached photos or videos become visible to other signed-in community members after upload. Existing saved runs are not posted automatically. Route coordinates and private reflection notes are not included in a post.
Community features are available automatically when you enter the signed-in app. Your community profile uses your display name and profile photo, which are visible to other runners. You can find and follow runners or choose to post a saved run. Joining an individual squad remains your choice. We store follows, likes, comments, blocks and private reports to provide the community and address misuse. Blocking removes mutual follows and prevents in-app discovery and interaction, including squad messages. Manage blocked runners in Settings or Find runners. Reports are available to service operators and authorized administrators, not other runners.
A private report may retain a limited copy of the reported text and the review decision and time so administrators can review concerns after public content changes or is removed. Reporting does not copy private run notes or routes. Removing a public post does not erase its report; deleting the associated run or a participating account removes related reports. Reported attachments are reviewed only while they remain available through the service.
To personalize Home, Pacemax uses your follows, likes and comments, public post information, and which posts you view, how long they stay visible, photos you open and videos you watch while Home is active. Viewing feedback is linked to your community account, stays private and is scheduled for removal after 30 days. Feed order snapshots expire after 24 hours. Private runs, route coordinates and reflection notes are not used for these recommendations. Account deletion removes your viewing feedback and feed snapshots.
Removing a post hides it from the feed while keeping your saved run and its backup. Run deletion removes its post, and account deletion removes the associated community records. Downloaded copies, shared files or media links already obtained by others cannot be recalled by a block or post removal.
Notifications, photos and sharing
Notifications are optional. Your reminder settings are saved on your iPhone for your account, and reminders are scheduled locally. Change categories in Settings → Notifications or turn off permission in iPhone Settings. Reminder content can appear on your Lock Screen according to your iPhone settings.
Profile photos and run-share photos use separate paths. A photo you choose in Edit Profile is saved in Pacemax on your iPhone and uploaded to your Pacemax account when connected. Photos chosen or captured for a run share are prepared on your iPhone and are not uploaded to Pacemax's account service. Copy, Save, Instagram and More send run-share images only to the destination you choose; those apps and your Photos or clipboard settings control what happens afterward.
Service providers and support
Convex provides Pacemax's account, authentication and cloud backup infrastructure. Apple and Google provide sign-in, Apple provides purchases and system integrations, Superwall provides subscription services, PostHog provides product analytics, and Sentry provides error and performance monitoring. These providers process information for their functions. Service processing may take place outside your country.
When product analytics is enabled for the app, Pacemax sends selected onboarding and app-use events to PostHog to understand feature use and improve the service. These include onboarding steps visited, sign-in provider, permission outcomes and coarse run or sharing actions. PostHog receives app, operating-system and device context and pseudonymous device/session identifiers; signed-in events are linked to your Pacemax account identifier. Event properties exclude your name, email, onboarding answer values, route coordinates, exact run pace, distance and duration, reflection text and selected media. Delivery waits during an unfinished run. PostHog screen replay and automatic screen/touch capture are disabled. There is no in-app product-analytics toggle.
When diagnostics is enabled for the app, Sentry may automatically receive app errors and crashes, app hangs, device/app/runtime details, sampled performance and navigation timing, failed-request paths without query strings, your Pacemax account identifier and limited activity labels. Error-triggered screen replay may automatically capture and send a masked recording of app screens and interactions around an error to help diagnose it. Text, images and graphics are masked; ordinary-session replay, screenshot and view-hierarchy attachments, console logs and default personal-information collection are disabled. Diagnostic replay does not record your microphone or camera. There is no in-app diagnostics or replay toggle.
PostHog and Sentry may retain queued events on your iPhone before delivery. Already delivered analytics and diagnostics are subject to the providers' retention and deletion practices; signing out or deleting local app data does not itself erase their service records. Contact us about access or deletion requests concerning this information.
If you contact support, we receive your email address and the information you send so we can respond. Avoid sending passwords or payment-card details. Technical service logs may include request, device or network information used to operate and protect the service. Local activity buffers are separate from the selected events sent to PostHog, Sentry diagnostics and subscription-service processing.
Pacemax does not sell your personal information or use your Health data, fitness history or routes for targeted advertising. Information may be disclosed where necessary to comply with law, protect users or address misuse. Providers handling information on our behalf are required to protect it and use it for the services they provide.
Keeping and deleting information
Account setup, your profile photo and backed-up runs are kept to provide your identity, history and restore features until removed through profile editing, account deletion or run deletion. Signing out keeps this account's saved runs and cached profile, including the profile-photo copy, on the iPhone; signing out and uninstalling are not requests to delete your cloud account.
You can request account deletion in Profile → Settings → Delete Account, or through Account → Delete Account on the Pro plan screen after account setup, without purchasing a subscription. Deletion removes your account, associated cloud run records and this account's runs on the iPhone making the request. Keep an internet connection available; interrupted deletion is checked again when you reopen Pacemax. If setup fails before you can reach account settings, contact mukombambia@gmail.com for help with deletion.
Other devices may still hold offline copies, and images you have saved or shared remain in their destinations. Apple Health's original workouts are not deleted. You may also need to disconnect Sign in with Apple in your Apple account settings. Deleting Pacemax does not cancel an App Store subscription or remove records held independently by Apple or other providers.
Limited support, security or transaction records may need to be retained to resolve a request or meet legal obligations. A deletion receipt without your account identifier may remain to confirm completion. We do not promise that deletion removes copies held independently by a provider or by someone you shared with.
Your choices and privacy requests
Manage location, motion, camera, Photos and notification permissions in iPhone Settings. Location is required to record a run; the other permissions are optional. Account backup is automatic and has no in-app toggle. Post to feed controls publication to other runners separately from backup. Previously saved or uploaded data is not erased just by withdrawing a device permission. Use run or account deletion to remove the corresponding Pacemax records, or contact us about a privacy request.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy authority. Email mukombambia@gmail.com to make a request. We may need to verify that the request concerns your own account.
Security and updates
Pacemax uses account authentication and encrypted network connections to protect service access. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your iPhone and sign-in account, particularly when sharing a device.
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The date above identifies this version. Where a change requires notice or new consent, we will provide it before using your information for that new purpose.
